Kajang, Malaysia, 4 January 2022<\/strong><\/em> – The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries or ASEAN NCAP has taken another progressive step towards the preparation of its upcoming roadmap for 2026-2030. One of the elements that ASEAN NCAP is planning to assess is the functionality of the car against motorcycle. As such, ASEAN NCAP is collaborating with several road safety partners in developing a motorcycle target to be used in the assessment. The project is named Overall ASEAN market Safety Improvement for Motorcycles (OASIM), led by UTAC.<\/p>\n

Just one year after its launch, the OASIM project which aims to improve the safety of motorized two-wheelers in South East Asia, brought together all the partners for a fourth virtual workshop. It was an opportunity to exchange on the final results of the on the crash analysis study as well as the first prototype of motorcycle target designed and manufactured by the company 4a. The prototype for motorcycle target was developed on the basis of the most common models in this region.<\/p>\n

In the workshop, the partners discussed the identification of test scenarios to be included in the upcoming roadmap and subsequently for the development of ASEAN NCAP test protocol 2026-2030. The protocol is aimed to evaluate the functionality of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) fitted inside the assessed car. With the development of the protocol, ASEAN NCAP hopes that it will encourage the automotive industry to fit more relevant ADAS systems in their future car models.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
