Kajang, 19 May 2017<\/em><\/strong> – The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) had the pleasure of receiving an invitation to give a keynote address at the 39th<\/sup> ISO COPOLCO Plenary Meeting on 17 May 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim, Secretary General of ASEAN NCAP presented the keynote address on behalf of ASEAN NCAP.<\/p>\n

Based on the theme Road Safety by Design, his presentation is titled \u2018ASEAN NCAP Experience\u2019. In his keynote, Dr. Khairil presented the list of activities for Safer Vehicle Pillar under the Global Plan for the Decade of Action, an explanation about what is NCAP, summary of ASEAN NCAP achievements, ASEAN NCAP new protocol for 2017-2020, and challenges of removing non-safer cars from the system. Dr. Khairil then chaired the following session; the first part of Finding Solutions session, which focused on setting priorities and building partnerships. For this session, Dr. Khairil was joined by an ASEAN NCAP Technical Committee members, Dr. Saiprasit Koetniyom as one of the panellists. Dr. Saiprasit who is the Head of the Automotive Safety and Assessment Engineering Research Center at King Mongkut\u2019s University of Technology North Bangkok has vast experience with regard to vehicle safety in Thailand. He shared a presentation on how to use pickup vehicles safely for road users as Thailand is a country that has high use of pickup trucks in which a high number were converted to transport human passenger such as schoolchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
