Kuala Lumpur, 16 May 2017<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 The fourth Stop the Crash was successfully organized from 12-13 May 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event which was supported by King Mongkut\u2019s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) was officiated by Hon. Nikorn Chamnong MP, President of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Road Safety System Reform Thailand and Member of the Leadership Council of the Global Network for Road Safety Legislator. The opening ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Suchart Siengchin, President of KMUTNB and Kritsiam Arayawongchai, National Professional Officer, WHO Country Office for Thailand.<\/p>\n

The Stop the Crash in Thailand that was held at Pathumthani Speedway, showcased four types of vehicle safety technologies namely, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB-City), Motorcycle Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). The KMUTNB\u2019s team also took the opportunity to organize a motorcycle crash test during the opening ceremony. The test showed why it is necessary to wear helmet while riding and have safety technologies in motorcycles.<\/p>\n

A total of 538 people attended the event to obtain information and to get the feel of how the technologies can stop the crash from happening. As an organization that supports building of safer vehicles in the ASEAN region, the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) aspires that the initiative by Stop the Crash Partnership will be able to\u00a0improve\u00a0the standards of new vehicles. This step will be able to reduce the number of fatalities in the country that has one of the worst number of death in the world due to road crashes. Together we can #stopthecrash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
