Kajang, 31 July 2015<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) will be organizing the ASEAN Automotive Safety Forum (AASF) in Bandung, Indonesia with collaboration of Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). This annual event is a perfect platform for ASEAN NCAP, automobile manufacturers and suppliers, and also academicians to build networking and discuss on the way forward to create a better and positive market for ASEAN automobile industry.<\/p>\n

This upcoming AASF 2015\/003 in Bandung is the third series after the successful AASF 2014\/001 and 002, respectively held in Kuching and Bangkok last year. The three-day event, starts from 20th<\/sup> until 22nd<\/sup> September 2015 will be jointly held with International Conference on Southeast Asia\u2019s Decade of Action for Road Safety: Safer Vehicles. The first day of the event consists of media coaching on ASEAN NCAP safety rating and assessment. Interested participants are welcome to join this slot. The steering and technical committee meetings are also on the first day, however, they are only for invited participants. The second and third day comprising conference sessions and workshops and they are open for all participants.<\/p>\n

The topic discussion for AASF 003\/2015 in Bandung will be focusing on Safer Vehicles, which is the third pillar of the United Nation (UN) Decade of Action for Road Safety 2010\u20132020. Traffic accident statistics in Indonesia has shown an increasing trend, reaching the yearly fatality similar to those in Europe and US, which are around 30,000 traffic fatalities per year. Safer vehicle topic to be discussed in the conference will also be critical as part of the activity to reduce the total number of traffic fatality on the road.<\/p>\n

ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General, Mr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said, \u201cIt is vital for OEMs, automotive suppliers, and government related departments of Indonesia to attend this forum as we will announce the results of the latest crash test of Indonesian vehicles and the new rating system that ASEAN NCAP will implement for future tests beginning from 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n

AASF 2015\/003, Project Manager, Mr. Mohd Hafzi Bin Md Isa, reportedly said that, \u201cWe have received overwhelming response from manufacturers, stakeholders and academicians to participate in this event. However, due to limited seats available for the forum, we request interested parties to submit their registration as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
