The assessed models under these two brands are ZEEKR X and MG MGS5 EV, both of which achieved 5-Star ASEAN NCAP ratings.<br><br>The ZEEKR brand was started by Geely Holding Group in 2021. ZEEKR X is the first model under the said brand to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP. The compact SUV entered the Southeast Asian market with a Thailand debut in July 2024. ZEEKR X delivered an outstanding performance in the assessment, earning a <strong>5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating<\/strong> with an overall score of <strong>94.64 points<\/strong>. The SUV obtained the score based on the four assessed categories comprising <strong>the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category with 40.00 points, the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category with 17.14 points, the Safety Assist (SA) category with 20.00 points, and 17.50 points for the Motorcyclist Safety (MS) category<\/strong>.<br><br>ZEEKR X offers standard features of seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both front and rear seat occupants, rear seat occupant detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and ISOFIX for child seats across all its variants. Furthermore, the SUV offers technologies dedicated for motorcyclist safety namely AEB for Motorcycle, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) on both sides of the vehicle, Automatic High Beam (AHB) and Pedestrian Protection (PP) as standard equipment in all its variants.<br><br>Not to be outdone, the MG MGS5 EV, another SUV assessed by ASEAN NCAP this October, also delivered an outstanding performance. The MGS5 was officially launched in Southeast Asia during the first quarter of 2025. ASEAN NCAP had previously assessed two of MG\u2019s models: the MG 3, tested in 2018, and the MG ZS, tested in 2020. The MG MGS5 EV successfully achieved a <strong>5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating<\/strong> with a total score of <strong>92.39 points<\/strong>. The breakdown of the scores was <strong>37.90 points for the AOP category, 16.99 points for the COP category, 20.00 points for the SA category, and 17.50 points for the MS category<\/strong>.<br><br>The MG MGS5 EV, a 5-seater SUV, is equipped with at least six airbags, ESC, ABS, SBR for both frontal occupant seats, rear occupant detection, AEB City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, AEB for Motorcycle, BSD for both sides of the vehicle, AHB, PP and ISOFIX for child safety seat as standard fitment across all its variants. Technologies such as LDW, FCW, and LKA are also available as standard equipment in all MGS5 variants. In comparison, the Thailand market includes six standard airbags, the Malaysia and Singapore markets offer seven, with an additional centre airbag.<br><br>We are proud that both Chinese automotive brand SUV models delivered an impressive performance in the recent ASEAN NCAP assessment. ZEEKR X achieved a perfect score of 40.00 points in the AOP category, while MGS5 also secured a very high score in the same category with 37.90 points. Furthermore, both models attained the maximum 20.00 points in the Safety Assist (SA) category, clearly demonstrating the manufacturers&#8217; commitment to the safety of vehicle occupants and other road users.<br><br>ASEAN NCAP applauds the proactive measures taken by both brands to equip their models with crucial vehicle safety technologies. As the number of EV models grows in the ASEAN market, we appreciate that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are prioritising consumer and road-user safety. We urge all manufacturers to match this commitment by offering critical safety technologies in their new vehicles. A heartfelt congratulations to both models for their excellent performance.<br><br>The current ASEAN NCAP 2021\u20132025 assessment protocol encompasses four assessment domains, with AOP accounting for 40.00 points of the overall score, and COP, SA, and MS each contributing 20.00 points. This year, 2025, marks the final year of the 2021\u20132025 assessment protocol.
