Kajang, Malaysia, 1 August 2025 <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 Since its establishment, the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) has conducted several assessments on Toyota models. This year, Toyota introduced its latest SUV for assessment under the current 2021\u20132025 ASEAN NCAP protocol.

The new Toyota Yaris Cross achieved an impressive performance in the assessment, earning a 5-Star<\/strong> ASEAN NCAP rating with an accumulated score of 83.02 points<\/strong>. The total score achieved by the SUV is based on the four assessment categories, consisting of 36.36 points for the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, 17.32 points for the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category, 16.89 points under the Safety Assist (SA) category and 12.21 points for the Motorcyclist Safety (MS) category.<\/strong>

The Yaris Cross comes equipped with several standard safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both frontal and rear seat occupants, and Pedestrian Protection (PP). In addition, the 5-seater SUV offers a range of advanced safety assist technologies, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for both city and inter-urban conditions, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) on both sides of the vehicle, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Auto High Beam (AHB). These advanced features are available as standard or optional equipment, depending on the variant.

In the assessment, the model provided good protection to the dummy occupants seated inside the vehicle, with the SUV\u2019s frontal compartment remaining stable. Findings from the data showed that there was adequate protection for both occupants\u2019 chests, with the driver receiving marginal protection for the right lower leg. The current ASEAN NCAP 2021\u20132025 assessment protocol encompasses four assessment domains, with AOP covering 40.00 points of the overall score, and COP, SA, and MS each contributing 20.00 points of the overall score. This year, 2025, marks the final year of the 2021\u20132025 assessment protocol. The assessment under the 2026\u20132030 protocol will begin in January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
