9 October 2023, Kajang, Malaysia<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Media is an integral part of the society and has always been one of the channels for majority of the NCAPs organizations around the world to promote their assessment results and activities. This also applies to our organization at ASEAN NCAP or New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries.

To keep the Malaysian road users updated with the ASEAN NCAP activities, assessment protocol and the upcoming roadmap, ASEAN NCAP organized a Media Engagement Day with a number of local medias, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and also related stakeholders. The objectives of the event were: (i) to promote ASEAN NCAP activities to the Malaysian media; (ii) to provide extensive briefing regarding ASEAN NCAP star rating, its assessment protocol and results interpretation; and (iii) to disseminate knowledge of occupant injury from vehicle collision and publicize vehicle safety information to the Malaysian media.

ASEAN NCAP held the Media Engagement Day event on 5th<\/sup> October 2023 at MIROS office in Kajang, Selangor. Honourable Ts. Zulhaidi Mohd Jawi, Director of Vehicle Safety and Biomechanics Research Centre (VSB) of MIROS gave an opening remark to the event, which he welcomed and acknowledged the consistent supports from various parties towards the success of ASEAN NCAP. There were about five presentations with ASEAN NCAP represented by Ts. Yahaya Ahmad, Technical Leader of ASEAN NCAP and Ms. Salina Mustaffa, its Communication Officer. The half-day event also saw presentations from other OEMs, who shared on the benefits of the existing safety technologies in the market, namely Mr. Jun Nakashima, Nissan Motor Asia Pacific, Mr. Tsuyoshi Koike from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and Mr. Katsuya Matsumura of Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing.
