Kajang, 21 August 2015 – Following the test on Mitsubishi Triton by New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) released on 7th July 2015, ASEAN NCAP also reviewed the test result conducted by Australasian NCAP (ANCAP). The Triton model of higher variant was tested by ANCAP in March 2015 and scored a very well result of 15.22 points for its Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), which is in the 5-Star range. However, it did not perform well for the Child Occupant Protection (COP) rating with only 2-Star (48% compliance).
ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General, Mr. Khairil Anwar bin Abu Kassim upon interviewed said, “ASEAN NCAP also takes into consideration the test done on the premium variant of Triton model by ANCAP. The benchmarking between the premium variant by ANCAP and the one that ASEAN NCAP tested will provide wholistic information to the consumers regarding specifications fitted into the pickup truck. With the release of this result, consumers are provided with a range of selections to choose from particularly on the safety aspects.”
The following are the gists of Mitsubishi Triton premium variant result.
>>This particular variant of Mitsubishi Triton was tested by Australasian NCAP (ANCAP) and achieved 5-Star for AOP with the score of 15.22 but scored 2-Star for COP (48% compliance).
>>The test was conducted on the higher end model of Mitsubishi Triton fitted with Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
>>This result is based on ANCAP rating following the release by ASEAN NCAP on the standard variant of Triton model, which scored only 13.56 for AOP.
>>The premium variant of Triton AOP score of 15.22 (5-Star) lead the rating of pickup trucks tested by ASEAN NCAP, with Chevrolet Colorado at 14.19 (5-Star) and Isuzu D-Max with 11.87 (4-Star). Nevertheless, in COP, Triton obtained the lowest score between the three other models with only 48% compliance (2-Star) while Colorado and D-Max had a higher score of 63% (3-Star) and 71% (4-Star), respectively.
