Kajang, Malaysia, 7 November 2025 – As part of ASEAN NCAP’s continuous effort to enhance consistency and transparency in its assessment process, an update has been made to the ASEAN NCAP Child Restraint System (CRS) Reference List. This update aims to ensure that CRS installation assessments reflect current products available in the ASEAN market and remain aligned with international standards.
An initial CRS survey and selection were conducted in 2023, during which models were chosen based on UNECE R129 approval and their availability within the ASEAN market. However, due to subsequent changes in manufacturer product lines and the rapid evolution of CRS models, several previously listed systems are no longer available. Therefore, ASEAN NCAP has developed a technical bulletin (ATB 002 – Child Restraint Systems for Installation Assessment) that serves to present the updated ASEAN NCAP CRS Reference List, which will be used for CRS Installation Assessment under the 2026–2030 protocol. These amendments will be reflected in ASEAN NCAP Assessment Protocol – Child Occupant Protection Version 3.3 which will be uploaded on ASEAN NCAP website by end of December 2025 (refer to Our Test).
The updated list also introduces several model substitutions to reflect current market offerings:
i. Joie i-Spin Grow → Joie i-Spin Multiway
The replacement reflects a change in product presentation, with no technical difference in structural design or safety performance. ASEAN NCAP recognizes the Joie i-Spin Multiway as a direct substitute.
ii. Recaro Salia → Recaro Salia 125
The previous Recaro Salia (40–105 cm) has been discontinued. The Recaro Salia 125 (40–125 cm) replaces it, though ASEAN NCAP assessment remains for the 40–105 cm ISOFIX and load leg configuration.
iii. Recaro Mako Elite → Nuna AACE Lx
Due to the unavailability of the Recaro Mako Elite, the Nuna AACE Lx is introduced as a replacement CRS for the 100–150 cm booster category with ISOFIX and belt assessment.
Additionally, the Chicco Seat 3 Fit i-Size Air (40-125 cm) remains listed for ISOFIX and support leg assessment under the 40–105 cm category.
The updated CRS and dummy reference tables are provided in this bulletin to guide manufacturers and assessors in conducting consistent CRS installation evaluations.
