The inaugural ASEAN NCAP Manufacturer Meeting outside Malaysia had successfully organized in Thailand, despite the current political situation in the capital city, Bangkok. The event was co-organized by the faculty members of The Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (known as TGGS) of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, on 14th of January 2014.
The 6th Manufacturer Meeting was part of ASEAN NCAP approach to maintain good rapport with the industry i.e. to make sure all OEMs understand and be mindful of the future of ASEAN NCAP assessment.
ASEAN NCAP Secretary-General, Mr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim, was delighted to talk to close to 100 participants from many backgrounds in the industry. “I’m glad to see local (Thai) automotive people to come over to TGGS and give us the chance to explain what we have achieved so far, and what we’re going to achieve in the next couple years”, he said after the meeting.
The three-hour meeting also included the speech by the host, TGGS’ Dean Prof. Dr. Prayoot Akkaraekthalin, ASEAN NCAP Steering Committee Member Mr. Ahmed Ismail (AA Malaysia) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saiprasit Koetniyom (TGGS), ASEAN NCAP Communications Manager Mr. Zulhaidi Jawi, ASEAN NCAP Technical Committee Member and Head of MIROS PC3 Crash Laboratory Mr. Yahaya Ahmad, crash test technology providers KYOWA and JASTI (Japan), and closed by the presentation of the Secretary-General Mr. Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim.
ASEAN NCAP also held several “one-to-one” meetings with the interested OEMs and organizations to disscuss any matters regarding the current or future assessment, after the meeting at TGGS and also at Pullman Bangkok King Power in Ratchathevi area on the next day (15th Jan 2014).
This success will be a great sign for another event in Bangkok this year – ASEAN NCAP 3rd Open Day & Phase 3 Results Release – in end of March 2014.
