Kajang, Malaysia, 5 August 2024 – The new Mitsubishi’s SUV was the second model to be rated by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) in its 2024 assessment year. In the assessment, the Mitsubishi XFORCE made an outstanding performance by achieving a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating with an overall score of 79.15 points. The achieved total score was based on the four categories that were assessed under the 2021–2025 protocol consisting of Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category with 34.89 points, Child Occupant Protection (COP) scoring at 17.03 points, Safety Assist (SA) assessment category at 14.85 points and Motorcyclist Safety (MS) with 12.39 points.
The 5-seater XFORCE is equipped with various safety features as standard fitment in all its variants comprising 4 (four) airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Seatbelt Reminder System for frontal and rear seats occupants and Pedestrian Protection (PP) technology. The model also offers several safety assist technologies across its variants consisting of Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Auto High Beam (AHB). These technologies are available in the SUV either as standard or optional fitment.
The Mitsubishi XFORCE’s appearance in a regional auto show last year has triggered high anticipation among the public. With numerous coverages regarding the SUV’s launch, ASEAN NCAP is thrilled that the SUV has successfully achieved 5-Star ratings in all of the assessed categories during its recent assessment. Mitsubishi has indeed poured their commitment by ensuring that the model provides the necessary protection to both the occupants and other road users. The current ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 assessment protocol encompasses four assessment domains, with AOP covering 40.00 points of the overall score, and COP, SA, and MS each contributing 20.00 points of the overall score.
