Press Release: Suzuki S-Cross Scored 5-Star


Kajang, 25 June 2015 – The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian region (ASEAN NCAP) recently crash tested the new sports utility vehicle (SUV) by Suzuki. The Suzuki S-Cross obtained a 5-Star result for its Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and achieved a 4-Star rating for Child Occupant Protection (COP) with 81% compliance.

ASEAN NCAP Chairman, Prof. Dr. Wong Shaw Voon said, “I’m glad more SUVs are being crash tested as it has become one of the most favourite vehicles among family car owners especially for long distance driving. The star rating will give consumers higher confidence in purchasing a particular vehicle with certain safety standards.”

The following are the gist of the Suzuki S-Cross results.

>> Suzuki S-Cross achieved 5-Star for AOP with the score of 15.48 and 4-Star for COP (81% compliance).

>> S-Cross is the third SUV model crash tested by ASEAN NCAP after Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (July 2013) and Honda CR-V (February 2014). The S-Cross scores were very close to Honda CR-V, which scored 15.46 (5-Star) for AOP and 86% compliance (4-Star) for COP. Whilst Mitsubishi Pajero Sport score was at 12.08 (4-Star) for AOP and 40% (2-Star) in COP rating.

>> As of to date, S-Cross is the leading scorer for the SUV category under ASEAN NCAP.

>> Suzuki S-Cross is the first vehicle tested by ASEAN NCAP that is produced in a European region. The production line of the SUV is done in Hungary with vehicle specifications catered for Malaysian and Singaporean road use.

>> Electronic Stability Control is a standard fit, as well as ISOFIX and top tether for child safety seat.
